Pot users in prisons: the real numbers

Pro-pot lobbyists use “outrageous numbers” to suggest that jails and prisons are full of people convicted solely for personal use of small quantities of marijuana (in reality, offenders in US prisons who plea bargained down to possession alone total less than 100/year). The Marijuana Policy Project cites “research” by Jon Gettman – South Carolina Law Enforcement Division carefully studied these claims and compared them to the actual numbers: Marijuana Research at SC DOC (2).
