Anti-anxiety drugs are fueling the next drug crisis

Over 40million adults in the US suffer from anxiety. Overdose deaths involving benzodiazepines – such as Xanax, Librium, Valium and Ativan, drugs commonly used to treat anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, seizures and insomnia – quadrupled 2002-2015, with a 67% rise in prescriptions, CNBC reports.
