Alcohol abuse, acute lung injury & acute respiratory distress syndrome

Alcohol abuse is often complicated by malnutrition, and zinc deficiency has been postulated to cause some of the skin changes and immunodeficiency associated with alcoholic liver disease. But this study by Fadhil Kadhum Zwer Aliqa in MedCrave found that alcohol interferes with dietary zinc absorption in the gut but and impairs zinc transport to the lungs.
