Heroin and alcohol plan for addicts on the NHS

Under the 10-year plan, which has yet to be adopted, addicts who fail ‘treatments’ using methadone would transfer to diamorphine, another name for heroin. Also being considered are “managed alcohol programmes” that would provide accommodation & support “alongside supervised doses of alcohol”. The UK never implemented its 2010 “freedom from dependence on drugs” policy – now it’s given up the pretence of doing so.
