Drugs replacing opioids are linked to rise in suicide attempts

Researchers analyzed data collected by the US Poison Centers for the National Poison Data System, and noted cases involving gabapentin 2013-2017 and baclofen 2014-2017. Both drugs are given to patients dealing with long-term/ chronic pain. Suicides attempts after people took just gabapentin rose by 80.5%, and by 43% for baclofen.
