London Bridge hero who tackled terrorist with fire extinguisher is person in recovery

John Crilly had been jailed for a murder he didn’t commit – by Lord Leveson, who freed killer Usman Khan. He got an Open University law degree while in jail and victim Jack Merritt attended his graduation ceremony this September. Crilly blames his “hundreds” of criminal convictions on drugs and said he was a heroin addict aged 15; he served 4 years at HMP Grendon, a therapeutic prison.
