In England, prevalence of high-risk drinking but not smoking has risen since the Covid-19 lockdown. Smokers and high-risk drinkers are more likely than before lockdown to report trying to quit smoking or reduce their alcohol consumption, and rates of smoking cessation are higher, University College London states.
