How budget cuts have affected alcohol and drug treatment services

Treatment services in England lost over £212.21 million (-27%) of Public Health Grant funding 2013/14-2018/19. By 2018/19, 34,000 fewer (-11%) people engaged in treatment and 44,000 fewer successfully completed (-21%) alcohol and drug treatment despite more people needing it. During this time, alcohol-specific hospital admissions rose 9%, alcohol deaths 4% and drug deaths 24%, University of Sheffield blogs.
