The US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration released findings from the 2025 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. In 2025, 44.6million people aged 12 or older – 15.3% of the US population – had a substance use disorder: 25.7million people for alcohol, 26 million for other drugs, 7.1million with both alcohol and drug use disorders. But there are worrying treatment gaps.
