83% of injecting drug users test positive for fentanyl

The NYU School of Global Public Health revealed that 83% of New Yorkers who inject drugs are testing positive for the opioid fentanyl – with only 18% of them using it deliberately. In New York City, drug overdose deaths more than tripled since 2013 when fentanyl began to regularly appear in the illicit drug supply.
