CSUCH revealed that over 3,400 people in Canada were hospitalised and 847 died due to motor vehicle collisions attributed to any substance use in 2020, the last year for which data is available. The 3 leading causes of death were: alcohol: 34%, cannabis: 24%, other central nervous system depressants: 15%.
