Gaps in care after nonfatal overdoses

Researchers from SAMHSA, the NIH’s NIDA, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the CDC found that, among Medicare beneficiaries who experienced a nonfatal overdose in 2020, 17.4% had another nonfatal overdose, and about 1% (1,300 people) died from overdose the following year.
