Austerity cuts and deaths of despair

UK government austerity spending cuts cost the average citizen almost half a year in life expectancy 2010-2019, according to The Impact of Austerity on Mortality and Life Expectancy by London School of Economics and King’s College London. Factors responsible included 1,000 ‘deaths of despair’ from drug poisoning.
