Music activates the brain’s opioid system

The Turku PET Centre in Finland demonstrated for the 1st time that listening to favourite music also activates the brain’s opioid receptors. The researchers used positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as study participants listened to music.
