Australia: how drinkers affect people around them

Few studies have investigated the affecting drinkers from the perspectives of those affected. Australia’s La Trobe University found that they (re)constructed the people whose drinking affected them as either the ‘perpetrator’, ‘victim’, or both. Participants drew on 3 dominant discourses about addiction as disease, as choice and as a social condition.
