Australia: alcohol, tobacco, drugs

The Australian Institute of Health & Welfare gave an update on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in Australia. There were 146,000 hospitalisations due to alcohol and other drugs in 2023-24, 1.2% of all hospitalisations. There were more deaths involving alcohol than any other drug: 1,764 alcohol-induced deaths in 2024.
