Australia: drug and alcohol treatment waitlist “explodes”

Figures showing over 5,122 Victorians waiting for alcohol and other drug treatment are a damning indictment on Jacinta Allan’s Labor government which is failing to properly fund frontline health services. The Victorian Alcohol and Drug Association showed the number of people waiting for treatment more than doubled since 2020 – about 40% of people seeking support still wait to be assessed.
