Call for overhaul of pain care

The University of Aberdeen warned that opioid use disorder in the UK is a “large and probably underestimated” problem and that, without urgent action, opioid addiction and deaths will keep rising. The paper calls for tighter limits on opioid dose and duration, stronger opioid stewardship in the NHS with a more patient-centred approach – and urges clinicians to identify opioid use disorder earlier.
