Westminster’s vertical drinking

Before its 1 October deadline, Westminster City Council said it will clarify terms such as “vertical drinking” – drinking in pubs while standing – in its revised licensing policy after backlash from pubs, businesses and politicians. The council said policing was the top concern in the consultation: the Metropolitan Police’s licensing team was halved this year.
