Drug addicts “should have microchips in their brains”

Deep brain stimulation has long been used for movement disorders like Parkinson’s – now scientists such as Dr Valerie Voon of Cambridge university and Tipu Aziz of Nuffield Department of Clinical Sciences, want to see if it can be applied to ‘switch off’ people addicted to opioids, heroin, alcohol or methamphetamine.
