Drug deaths rise in England and Wales

The Office for National Statistics revealed 2,955 drug poisoning deaths (legal and illegal drugs) registered in 2013 in England and Wales: 2,032 male, 923 female deaths. If it were not for a new way of recording drug deaths starting last year, this could have been even higher. Are the deaths related to new substances? To a more relaxed attitude resulting from legalisation campaigns? Investigations are ongoing, with no clear trends yet.
