Thousands affected by ‘hidden epidemic’ of FASD

At least 2% of people could be suffering from the long-term effects of their mother drinking alcohol while pregnant. There is no treatment for foetal alcohol spectrum disorder but its symptoms can be managed. Sandra Butcher from the charity NOFAS-UK told Sky News: “A conservative estimate would be more than 2%t of the population, so here in England that translates into more than 15,000 babies a year”.
