Timely addiction treatment, early medication and retention in care among youths with opioid use disorder

Boston University et al report that “timely receipt of buprenorphine, naltrexone, or methadone was associated with greater retention in care among youths with OUD compared with behavioral treatment only” – but it’s keeping young people on substitute drugs for up to a year (so far) rather than rehabs weaning them off drugs in a fraction of that time.
