Durham County Council bosses reject call for staff drug and alcohol tests

Counsellor Alex Watson claimed more rigorous drug/alcohol screening would demonstrate a commitment to creating a safer workplace. But in a formal response to his query,  Andrea Patterson said “the council will not require employees to be tested as a matter of course”.
