Moral injury in health care: What have we learned?

Moral injury is the mental, emotional and spiritual distress people feel after “perpetrating, failing to prevent, or bearing witness to acts that transgress deeply held moral beliefs and expectations”. Originally used to explain why some military veterans did not respond to standard treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, “moral injury” was then applied to doctors. STAT updates us.
