US drug overdose deaths surpassed 107,000 last year, another record

In a new high, over 107,000 people died from drug overdoses in 2021, according to provisional drug-death data from the CDC yesterday. That adds up to over 1million fatal drug overdoses since 2001. Drug policy experts urged government to apply the same urgency to stopping opioid deaths as Covid-19.
