Living alone and overdose deaths

The rise in US drug overdose deaths has spurred interest in identifying high-risk populations. One study reported that 69% of overdose deaths occurred among people using drugs while alone, with no one to intervene. Columbia University et al quantified that living alone linked with a 42% increased risk of overdose death.
