Stimulants for ADHD in adolescence can lead to cocaine, methamphetamine

In this University of Michigan study of 5,034 respondents, adolescents who used stimulant therapy for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder did not differ from their peers in cocaine and methamphetamine use at 19-24 years of age – but this prescription stimulant misuse did link to greater adjusted odds of later cocaine and methamphetamine use.
