Americans will spend half their lives taking prescription drugs

American boys and girls born in 2019 can expect to spend 48% and 60% of their lives, respectively, taking prescription drugs, analysis by Pennsylvania State University forecast. Contraceptives account for about 1/3rd of the difference between genders; the rest is mainly driven by other hormone-related drugs, painkillers and psychotherapeutic drugs.
