W Virginia removes 12-step recovery programs for inmate release.

West Virginia is the latest state to end a rule requiring that inmates eligible for parole must complete a 12-step substance abuse disorder recovery program before being released. The rule came after 1 offender claimed it was “religious coercion”. This is despite a library of evidence of its effectiveness.
