US 10-year fentanyl epidemic worsens

In the intractable US fentanyl epidemic, officials measure progress not in fewer deaths, but in a slowing rate of growth: the figure for 2022 was “only” 5% higher than for 2021. Fentanyl and other synthetic opioids like it kill some 75,000 people a year, the Economist reported.
