Treating AUD at discharge reduces hospital returns

The initiation of medications for alcohol use disorder at discharge reduced the incidence of several outcomes like hospital readmissions and ED visits, Massachusetts General Hospital claimed. A study last year showed that only about 2% of patients start medications for AUD within 2 days of discharge.
