Alcohol deaths in London hit record high

A record number of people died of alcohol-related deaths in London in 2022: highest were Hillingdon (46), Lewisham (45) and Brent (38). Across the UK, there were 10,048 deaths from alcohol-specific causes – a record high and 33% higher than in 2019 when there were 7,565 deaths recorded.
