Criminal justice bill: drugs

A new criminal justice bill also expands powers to test suspects in police detention for class A drugs (and some class B and C drugs) if they have been arrested for a “trigger offence” such as theft, handling of stolen goods and drug possession. Police could test suspects for drugs at a location other than a police station, and perhaps refer on.
