Fentanyl inhalation: risk of irreversible brain damage

Inhaling synthetic opioid fentanyl might cause irreversible brain damage (toxic leukoencephalopathy), Oregon doctors warned after treating one case. Toxic leukoencephalopathy has been reported after heroin inhalation – “chasing the dragon” – but this is the 1st reported case linked to fentanyl.
