Tobacco, alcohol, processed foods, fossil fuels ‘kill 2.7m a year in Europe’

Tobacco, alcohol, ultra-processed foods and fossil fuels kill 2.7million people a year in Europe – 24.5% of all mortality, according to a World Health Organization report on commercial determinants of non-communicable diseases. The WHO said powerful industries drive illness and premature death via “misleading” marketing and interfering in government efforts.
