WHO: adolescent girls face “alarming” rates of intimate partner violence

Among adolescent girls who have been in a relationship, 24% – close to 19million – will have experienced physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence by the time they turn 20 years old, as highlighted by the World Health Organization yesterday. Relevant as this is linked to later substance use as a coping mechanism.
