Raising health taxes could raise $3.7trillion over 5 years

The Task Force on Fiscal Policy for Health released Health Taxes: A Compelling Policy for the Crises of Today showing that, if all countries increased excise taxes to raise prices of tobacco, alcohol and sugary beverages by 50%, it would generate $3.7trillion in extra revenue over 5 years – and prevent millions of premature deaths globally.
