Trends in alcohol expenditure among risky drinkers

University College London et al found that, in England, the average amount adult risky drinkers reported spending on alcohol each week fluctuated 2014-2023, falling at the start of the Covid lockdown in 2020 and rising after restrictions were lifted plus inflation. Except for smokers, this is mainly due to price changes rather than volume.
