OHID revealed that premature deaths in England from alcoholic liver disease rose 42% from 2001-2023 from 6,140 in 2001 to 10,858 deaths in 2023 – and the rate rose almost 60%. Deaths rose 3.6% in 2023 to 5,984 compared to 5,776 in 2022. And in 2023 there were 84 deaths from hepatitis B related end-stage liver disease or hepatocellular carcinoma.
