UK needs national strategy to tackle alcohol harms

In a BMJ letter filled with research references, Professors Julia Sinclair and Sir Ian Gilmore et al warn that, as the quality and quantity of specialist alcohol treatment fell, unscheduled admissions to acute hospitals for alcohol withdrawal rose. “A national strategy to tackle the harms caused by alcohol is overdue.” See also NHS SE London plan to tackle alcohol harm.
