Scottish government quietly releases drug death report

The National Mission on Drugs: Annual Monitoring Report 2023-2024 revealed that 1,172 drug deaths were recorded in 2023 – a 12% rise from 2022. This is the 2nd-highest total in 6 years. Cocaine deaths hit record highs. Hepatitis C cases rose 31%.  The poorest communities are 15x more likely to die from drugs. Thousands with opioid dependence get no treatment.
