Prime Minister Keir Starmer yesterday startled the nation after announcing he will scrap NHS England – which ministers have labelled the ‘world’s largest quango’. It will be taken over by the government Department of Health and Social Care over the next 2 years. The move is expected to cut staff by 9,000.
