Yesterday, US Senators Tim Kaine and Jim Banks introduced the Providing Empathetic and Effective Recovery (PEER) Support Act, bipartisan legislation to elevate peer support specialists: people with lived experience of substance use disorder who are certified to assist others and their families in recovery.
