Americans’ use of illicit opioids is higher than previously reported

A Rand and University of Southern California survey of 1,515 US adults found that 11% reported illicit opioid use and 7.5% reported use of illicitly produced fentanyl in the past 12 months – over 20 times higher than estimates from a large federal study that annually asks Americans about their use of illicit drugs.
