US cancer deaths linked to alcohol doubled

Yearly cancer deaths linked to alcohol have doubled in the US over the last 3 decades, rising from just under 12,000 a year in 1990 to over 23,000 a year in 2021 – despite US cancer deaths overall falling by about 35% in that time, according to the American Cancer Society. The rise was driven by deaths in men 55 and older.
