US drug deaths: back to pre-lockdown levels

An estimated 80,391 people died of a drug overdose in the US last year, the lowest since 2019 and down about 27% from 2023, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Fentanyl cases dropped but meth spiked.
