Motability came under fire as people online boasted of gaming the system to get new cars “basically free”: 770 people with alcohol problems, 220 with drug issues. John O’Connell of the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Taxpayers will question how alcohol misuse qualifies someone for a brand new car on the Motability scheme”.
