Is kava replacing alcohol?

Half of kava’s chemicals are psychoactive or mind-altering, and it comes with serious warnings. Despite this, kava has become the West’s hot new alcohol alternative. Over 400 kava bars now dot the US and, last year, Australia imported 147 metric tons. Exports outside the Pacific islands have grown into a $2billion industry.
