Don’t sack the police commissioners

Last week, we brought news that police and crime commissioners are to be abolished. “The one clearly visible line of democratic accountability in policing – the PCCs – is being abolished. That is exactly the wrong way round,” TCW Fighting Freedom objected. “We need the public to see and sack those who set the rules, not just those who enforce them.”
